Week one started with a bang, no time to ponder. We did partner interview and my summary of that is included here where I introduce Evan. Week one required activities listed below:
• Creating blog
• Participating in Discussion forum
• Communicating with individual students and faculty via email
• Participating in a Wiki
• Weekly readings
This class is about student assessment in an on line environment. One on the papers we read was “Classroom assessment within the alternative assessment paradigm: revisiting the territory” by Michael A. Buhaguiar from the University of Malta. The article talks about integrating learning and assessment in new ways to maximize learning. Another very interesting article discussed this week was think-pair-share by Susan Ledlow. This articles discusses the use of in class questioning techniques that engage all students. The basic idea is to get students to first share their answer with their classmate and they communicate the summary of their combined answers. This leads to great class participation.

Getting to know Evan
Evan is a project manager for online learning for the Area Education Agencies in Iowa (AEAs are educational service units that provide professional development and special education services for Iowa districts). It is a relatively new position…, he started it in March.
Evan is taking this class as part of his work, as he is looking to be recommended to prospective AEA consultants effective online pedagogy programs. Evan has taken coursework from Drake University and Viterbo University, and has heard some excellent things about Stout.
Evan is highly allergic to carrots, so no carrots for him in this class
.
If there was one thing Evan would not give up, it would be his wife and three children for anything else.
